Ice Trail Equipment

Below is a list of necessary and recommended equipment for each of the races — Ice Trail (IT), Ice Trail Medium (ITM) and Ice Trail Short (ITS). The list includes a brief description of each item and a justification for why the organizers require or recommend having the item.

To enter the race, all participants, without exception, must have all the items marked as "mandatory". Immediately before the start of the race, the organizers may declare some things optional, based on the latest weather forecasts. Runners must carry all the required equipment on their own from start to finish, on their own or in their backpacks. Volunteers working at a distance may require the participant to provide equipment that is mandatory. After such a check, the participant will be fined +20 minutes before the finish time for each item of missing mandatory equipment.

"R" - Recommended

"M" - Mandatory

Equipment IT ITM ITS

Cellphone
Must be turned on from the start of the race until the finish, the volume of the incoming call should be at maximum, the battery is fully charged, the phone should be in perfect working order.

Why?

The mobile phone will allow the participant to receive or make calls to the organizers in case of emergencies. Make sure the battery is fully charged before starting your race and avoid any use of the phone unnecessarily. Features that consume a lot of battery power, such as bluetooth or wifi are preferably disabled.

M M M

Whistle
Whistles built into some running backpacks can also be used if they are in working order.

Why?

A whistle is needed to call for help or attract attention in an emergency.

Isofolia
Isofolia (also known as "space cover") is made of a heat-reflecting thin synthetic substance that has a silver color on one side and a gold color on the other side and is designed to retain or dissipate heat depending on which side a person is covered with. The minimum size of the isofolia should be 1.4 m x 2.0 m.

Why?

Isofolia is usually used to cover an injured person while waiting for help to arrive, but it can also be used to protect against wind or rain. Exactly how isofolia should be used to cover an injured person depends on the situation:

To preserve heat: the silver side should be in contact with the human body, and the golden side should look outwards. Such use is advisable when cooling or need to wait for help in the cold.
To lower the temperature: the golden side should be in contact with the human body, and the silver side should look outwards. Such use is advisable in case of heat or sunstroke and, if necessary, wait for help in the heat.

Headlamp with a set of replaceable batteries
The headlamp should be placed on the runner's head during the race, leaving his hands free. Before starting the race, make sure that the headlamp is in working order and has fully charged batteries. Make sure that the headlamp does not turn on while in your backpack or belt.

Why?

Accidental switching on of the lantern, which is not noticed by the runner in time, can significantly discharge the batteries and lead to the fact that the lantern will not work when needed - which is why it is also necessary to have a set of replaceable batteries.

M

Individual glass or mug
A container in which you can quickly collect drinks at refueling points.

Why?

We do not use disposable tableware at feeding points for environmental reasons, so it is necessary to have an individual container that can quickly collect and drink.

M M R

Waterproof breathable jacket
Jacket with waterproof breathable membrane type Gore-Tex, Clima Pro, Water Proff, MemBrain, H2O, Hyvent and others (desired water resistance of 10,000 mm and moisture removal of 5,000 g / m2 / 24h).

Why?

A waterproof breathable jacket may be needed for the entire race or for several hours, depending on weather conditions. Why waterproof? If your body is wet for a long time, it can lead to serious problems.

M M M

Fleece thermal jacket
The thermal jacket should cover the entire upper part of the body and have a long sleeve. The thermal jacket will keep the runner's body warm and help to withstand low temperatures. Cotton sweaters are not allowed.

Why?

There may be various situations that will force the runner to significantly slow down or even stop during the race. Situations such as injury, excessive exhaustion, helping another runner, etc. can cause a significant drop in body temperature before the runner reaches the nearest intermediate camp or waits for help.

M M R
Leggings or pants
These can also be shorts, if they, in combination with socks, completely cover the runner's legs without leaving his knees open. Short shorts and uncovered legs are not allowed!
M M M

Warm hat
Its function is to preserve heat and protect the head from the cold.

Why?

The head is one of the parts of the body through which the greatest heat loss occurs. A summer hat is not enough to run in the winter.

M M M
Spare socks
Dry socks, to be able to replace wet socks on your feet.
M M Р

Tank or containers for liquids with a total volume of at least 0.5 liters.
This can be any container, complex or not, that can be used for drinking without losing the liquid. Hands, ordinary cups or glasses, or any objects through which liquid is spilled are not allowed.

Why?

We care about the preservation of the environment, and therefore intermediate camps at all distances are not provided with disposable cups.

M M Р

Gloves
Must completely cover hands, including fingers. It is desirable that they be made of waterproof and breathable material.

Why?

Human limbs, including the hands, are most prone to cooling.

M M M
Leggings or boot covers
Shank pads that prevent snow from getting into sneakers. With a lot of snow, the lack of boot covers will add significant difficulties in overcoming any distance

Backpack
A running backpack is big enough to hold the things you need.
